What are the terms of use for Top 10 Tools?

When you purchase the course, you agree to the following terms of use. Please read these terms of use carefully.

Enrolling in Top 10 Tools

The Reading Teacher’s Top 10 Tools (T10T) is hosted on the learning management system (LMS) Strut Learning.  When you purchase a license for T10T, one of our team members must manually enroll you in the Strut LMS; this process could take between 24 and 48 hours to process.  If you register for T10T during a Saturday or Sunday CST, the enrollment process will begin on the following Monday.

Using Top 10 Tools

By accessing and using T10T via the Strut Learning platform, you agree to comply with the following terms:

  • Your license to use T10T is personal to you, and this license is not transferable to any other person or entity.

  • You are responsible for ensuring that the use of your user account fully complies with the provisions of this agreement.

  • T10T provides the user with access to a variety of resources, including downloadable resources, discussion board forums, and classroom and narration videos, that are intellectual property of Tools 4 Reading.  You are not allowed under any circumstances to copy, reproduce, share, or distribute this content.  Downloadable print materials may be printed only for your personal use.

Noncompliance with these terms of use will result in a termination of your service.

Receiving a Certificate of Completion

To receive a certificate of completion:

  • Complete all ten tools, spending the time needed to access the narratives, classroom videos, planning tools, expert videos, and readings that relate to your work.  This will take approximately 45 hours.

  • Complete formative assessments and summative assessment.  Brief formative assessments are at the end of each part, and there is one summative assessment per unit.

  • During your learning in each tool, complete the Connect to your Reading Instruction discussions and participate in the discussion board with other teachers enrolled in the course.  Share how you are using the content to enrich your instruction and how your students' reading is responding to your instruction.  Ask questions and engage in dialogue about the course and its application in your classrooms.

  • If you are fulfilling the Colorado Reading PD requirements, please reference the requirements detailed in this section of the Top 10 Tools Overview article.

We offer additional options for taking Top 10 Tools, including taking it for graduate credit and taking it to receive a micro-credential and CEUs.  For more information, please see this article.
